The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is a U.S. government agency that regulates the U.S. derivatives markets, including futures, forex, options, and swaps.
The mission of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is to promote the integrity, resilience, and vibrancy of the U.S. derivatives markets through sound regulation.
The CFTC looks to become the primary watchdog agency of the cryptocurrency market, at least in the U.S.
It won’t however, be tasked with deciding whether tokens are securities or commodities.
That will be left to the SEC.
