This mech system had a pretty impressive run for the first quarter of this year.
Just how many pips did USD/JPY and GBP/JPY catch?
If this is the first time you’re reading about this strategy, I suggest you take a look at the system rules before reading on.
Also, this version makes use of an adjusted stop loss size (from the original 20% of the first candlestick to 40% of its length) on both USD/JPY and GBP/JPY.
Note that I’m assuming 1% risk per position in crunching the percentage gains and losses.
Here’s the tally for USD/JPY:
This pair continues to impress, outpacing the previous quarter’s 9.53% gain and chalking up a 16.49% win for Q1 2021.
It had a solid win rate of 72.73% and a pretty good expectancy, given how the average win stood at 1.42% versus the average loss of 1.02%.Its largest winning streak was also much larger than the maximum drawdown of 2%.
Here’s how GBP/JPY turned out:
Despite the 20-pip overall loss, the pair was able to chalk up a decent 6.49% gain for the quarter.
This isn’t nearly as impressive as the earlier 19.84% gain in Q4, though! Its average win of 1.31% is still larger than the average 0.91% loss, but its longest winning streak was the same length as its longest losing streak.
In addition, the win rate just came in at a meager 51.85% as most of its winnings for the period came mostly from the 8.08% gain on its winning streak.
Still, the Inside Bar Momentum Strategy was able to end up with a 22.98% win for Q1 2021. Not bad, huh?
